Instructors

Bikram Choudhury, the creator of Bikram Yoga, personally trains and certifies his instructors to ensure that his methods and philosophy are preserved and properly taught. To be certified as an instructor in the Bikram Method of Yoga, an instructor must complete an intensive nine-week training session requiring over 500 hours of study. A studio guided by a Certified Instructor provides the best possible instruction in the Bikram Method. Certified Instructors have a continuing connection to Bikram Choudhury and his training staff, allowing the Certified Studio to draw from all of the resources Bikram’s training center has to offer. This includes special seminars, posture clinics, guest instructors, and answers to questions which may arise in a particular practitioner’s Bikram Yoga practice.

How long have you been practicing Bikram Yoga?
I started practicing Bikram Yoga 10 years ago as a cross training activity when I was kickboxing and boxing – which was slowly breaking my body.  I always knew I would end up doing Bikram Yoga full time due to the impact of those sports.

When/Where did you graduate from Bikram Yoga teacher training?
I graduated from Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Spring of 2011 in Los Angeles – an experience that touches my life every day.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?
I decided to become a teacher because every time I took a Bikram Yoga class all I wanted to do was teach.

What is your favorite thing about teaching?
It’s difficult to choose one favorite thing about teaching. Between the joy of watching people transform before my eyes and the sheer entertainment of seeing 40 people move together I am fulfilled in so many ways.

What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is one of Bikram’s and probably can’t be printed…

Atina Pegram

Why did you decide to become a teacher?
After practicing for over a year and seeing the changes in my classmates and myself…I knew I had to be a part of this life changing yoga…forever.

What is your favorite thing about teaching?
I love to see the changes in the students. Whether it’s weight loss, a new calmness, or new energy. It’s wonderful to see this yoga change people’s lives. I feel blessed to have what I consider the greatest job in the world.

What is your favorite quote?
I really don’t have a favorite, but I heard Jane Fonda say, “Teach what you need to learn.” Isn’t that what it’s all about?

I graduated from Teacher Training in November 2011 in Los Angeles

Why did you decide to become a teacher?
Bikram Yoga completely changed my life. It helped me lose weight, gain confidence, and it pushed me beyond the bounds of what I ever thought I could do physically or mentally.  I wanted to become a teacher so i could lead others toward discovering their own hidden strengths while leading healthier lives.
What is your favorite thing about teaching?
I enjoy watching all of the bodies moving togther, knowing that as the students hold the poses, and breathe, and sweat, they are making their lives better second by second.

When/Where did you graduate from Bikram Yoga Teacher Training?
I graduated from Teacher Training in Spring 2012 in Los Angeles

Why did you decide to become a teacher?
I knew from my first Bikram Yoga class that I had found something I would practice for the rest of my life.  Not only was my body telling me that I needed this yoga, but my mind was also fighting to stay present and I felt there was a mental aspect I also needed to address.  That was almost 3 years ago, and since then I have grown to love the Bikram series more and more everyday.   I decided to become a teacher to further expand my knowledge for the yoga and to share m experiences with my students.  Sometimes to progress your learning you have to teach the subject to others.

What is your favorite thing about teaching?
The best moments are when I see my students improve their practice and experience personal breakthroughs.  That alone gives me a tremendous sense of satisfaction
